Silly me

I didn't get the latest Covid jab because I was afraid it would 'set off' pmr again. So of course I got Covid...thought it was a cold. Felt grotty for four days and definitely on the mend now. I take choi kwang do and that room is where I might have picked it up (one room, one door and @ 18 bodies). In fact I feel better than I have for awhile. (Think I was getting it four days beforehand).

Onward and upward.

glad your feeling a bit better. If it’s any consolation I did have the latest covid booster and still managed to get Covid so don’t feel too bad about it. Hope you carry on recovering well x

Me too! Although, it was very mild due to the booster I expect

It doesn't STOP you getting it, it makes it less worse ...

It was a reconfigured Covid vaccine to reduce severity of current strains.

Great, you should have some natural immunity for a while now. Sounds like you are recovering well, just don't overdo it.

am I wrong? The vaccination doesn’t make it any harder to catch the virus, & offers no protection against catching it…the point of it is that you get it more lightly, & are less sick when you catch it! There’s so much around in the UK right now,, & all activities inside with no ventilation. If people want to avoid it, then wear a decent mask to go shopping, & activities & avoid eating in pubs, restaurants etc. But have your vaccine, so, if you do catch it, it’s not so bad! Having said that, it looks as if you managed fine without the vaccination…lucky! It’s just the same as catching ‘flu…it’s an airborne virus…sneaking around in every particle of air, & loves warm indoor spaces with lots of people to prey on! Get well soon, S x

Well once I recover I will get the booster. Off to Japan next week so I won't get it then.

My daughter and partner had Covid 2 weeks before visiting me - at least I was sure they weren't going to bring it with them!!! I still haven't knowingly had it!

I read you have to wait a few months after having covid to get the booster.I believe it's due to having natural immunity for a few months.Have a great time on your trip!!!

They usually recommend waiting a month after being clear of Covid - but it isn't because of the natural immunity which isn't as wide-rangingly effective as that from the vaccine. It is to allow the immune system a chance to recover from fighting the virus before it has to turn its attention to the vaccine.

I'm glad to hear that you are on the mend and so quickly. 🙂

I had the latest booster and still got Covid but thankfully no one else in the household got sick as I immediately isolated in my bedroom for 2 weeks until I finally tested negative. It was a terrible 2 weeks.

If it makes you feel better, everyone I know who gets the shots gets covid. Glad you are already feeling better already!

Pixix profile image

exactly! There’s no immunity to catching it! If you go out amongst other people, especially indoors, without a mask on (In other words normal behaviour of life), then you will catch it! It’s a choice!! But with the vaccination you should be less sick once you get it. We have to shield in winter & wear FFP2 masks to drs, hospitals etc…& now get strange looks as nobody else is wearing one! But that’s not because I have PMR, it’s because I have lung issues!

I have had all the shots offered to me - and I have not knowingly had Covid, not even a cold. I carry a mask with me and if I feel there are too many coughing sneezing bodies around, I put it on ...
