Not had a very good Christmas

Christmas day I came down with this flu thing. Cough and cold feeling unwell but temperature was ok because our immune system isn't good do we get this sort of thing worse and will it last longer?

That would sound logical, but in fact since I've been on Pred I seem to have got less colds and bugs. Would suggest that you just do what you would normally do for a bad cold, lots of drinks, paracetamol if needed, stay warm and rest as much as you can.

Some people do - others find they have fewer colds and the like. I very rarely got a cold anyway, one humdinger per year, and in all the years on pred I think it has actually been better.

Like Bcol & Pro, I've experienced far fewer colds since taking pred.

Have you done a covid test? Might be advisable as covid currently been manifesting as a bad cold with cough ... certainly in 4 of my friends.

I've tested myself I'm clear but will keep doing it. Hopefully just a cold thing will treat it as such.

I had this nasty respirtory virus - tested myself for Covid twice, but came back negative. I have been reading that Covid has mutated so much and is not showing on tests with even the most up to date testing kit.

I think the general consensus of opinion resonates with what you're saying.

My GP advised me that a very high percentage of LF test results are showing false negatives for just that reason, and most 'bad colds' are probably covid at present.

He also felt that there were potentially several different strains of covid and not just one.

All interesting thoughts....none of which I can conclusively evidence though.

So I may have it and not even know for sure! I've got young grandchildren one 4 months old born 10 weeks early. If anything happened to him I would never forgive myself!

All I can advise is to err on the side of caution. Of course, it may be that you do just indeed have a bad cold! Fingers crossed 🤞

Sorry to hear your Christmas wasn’t too good… like PMRpro I didn’t seem to get many problems with colds etc.

Would agree with  Kendrew , it could be Covid. Whatever it is hope you soon feel better.

There seems to be some lethal bugs going around at the moment along with Covid. Most of my friends are saying they have caught something.

Lethal! Hope not! Up till now I've rarely had a cold I've COVID tested myself and will keep an eye on things so hopefully it will just run it's course.

I don’t think I have had a cold for forty years, but I have definitely got something at the moment. I am exhausted and keep faling asleep and just feel yuk.

Given the unrealistic expectations we all have about Christmas, maybe being tucked in with bedside water and meds saved you from a bittersweet holiday. Signed//Scrooge.

Hi Caulkhead! Still coughing almost into 4 weeks of virus. Not normally prone to bugs but I reckon pred has made me so. It also affected blood test reults. Hope things improve for you soon.
