UPDATE:
So, my first week of Prednisolone is over....30mg goes down to 20mg today.
My symptoms are MASSIVELY improved. I would say I'm about at 85% full functionality in all areas. I still experience some pain in my right shoulder on waking and also in my right hip. My hand stiffness has virtually completely disappeared, I am not woken at night at all by pain and sleep through for about 6 or sometimes 7 hours.
Range of movement is still limited but that's mainly due to pain when I extend and lift my arms.
I don't have to stop when driving to stretch my hips anymore and things are so much different from seven days ago when I was up at 4am crawling up to the shower in tears.
All in all, I'm massively improved so would this further lend itself to PMR being a correct diagnosis or should I still be vigilant to other possibilities?
As this is still completely new to me, I still have plenty of other questions regarding this situation and so here they are if anyone has the answers:
1. I have noticed some leg twitching at times....is this normal?
2. In my mind I thought the Prednisolone would clear all symptoms.....is it normal to still be aware of/feel the condition and still have better and worse days even when on the meds and at the same dose?
3. Will range of movement pain ever go or is that kind of here to stay?
4.If I notice symptoms return after dropping from 30-20mg this week, should I contact the GP or just try to ride it out?
5. Would it be ok to up my dose to 30mg myself if I get bad symptoms back? I am aware that this is Christmas and I'm unlikely to get to see anyone during this period and I don't want to be suffering over Christmas
6. I have an NHS Rheumatology appt in February.....should I still keep that or ask my GP to lead on this now if it is PMR.
Many thanks again to everyone here.
Have a great Christmas!
I'll keep updating as I go along in case it's useful for younger male sufferers.
Cheers
