My Sister is feeling so much better - not 100% but definitely getting there. She is still very tired and is on 12.5 pred. She saw the Rheumi last week and he has prescribed Arava 10mg which she will increase dosage in time, all being well. Apparently he is young, enthusiastic and very convincing when he tells her these will make her feel better. As you can imagine she is reluctant to take them.

Has she actually fully recovered from the methotrexate fiasco? In that case, I'm darned if I would start leflunomide as she'll not be able to tell if it is the left-overs or leflunomide if she feels unwell,
Leflunomide does work very well in PMR FOR SOME PEOPLE, but it also has significant side effects including diarrhoea (fairly common) and neuropathy (rare but it happens, someone posted about it in the last few days).
So many doctors have so little knowledge of drugs. I read somewhere recently that the number of people having to go to hospital due to problems with prescribed drugs was very high making prescription drugs a major health risk, ranking 4th with stroke as a leading cause of death.
