Please explain abbreviations!

Can someone tell me what BC and DF mean? Is there somewhere on this site to explain abbreviations to someone new? I started my first taper, down from 10 mg and going fine until last couple of days after 10 days on 7 and I am totally exhausted and feel terrible. It is the weekend so my dr won't call of course -- I guess it is okay to take an extra 1 mg from what I am reading here. Depressing, or maybe it's the withdrawal that's adding to that feeling.

In what context did they appear, can you give an example?

I wrote about withdrawal tapering from predisone and so both sets of initials were used to refer to other conditions that appeared, I think it was. I don't remember exactly. I think I am just now realizing the long term story I am into with PMR.

Ah. DF is definitely me this week. Five months on 10-then 9 mg and starting to taper, but two weeks into 7, DF

Morning. This is a link to abbreviations generally used within the forum, but, like Piglette, can't help with those two without the context. healthunlocked.com/pmrgcauk...

BC can sometimes be used for Because but not sure without context. DF is often used to mean Deathly Fatigue. Hope this helps. 😊

You have been give link to FAQs for mainly medical abbreviations… and DF is usually deathly fatigue. Think BC might be British Columbia, if used by a Canadian member.

BC is often used for breast cancer and DF is almost always "deathly fatigue" - but without some context it is very difficult to know. Usually it is obvious when you look at the thread as a whole and other replies.

I assume you tapered 9, 8, 7 monthly, and all felt ok up to now? Are your symptoms definably PMR or tiredness (DF) and feeling generally terrible. If so it could be adrenals kicking in. Lots of posts in FAQs about that.

Or not kicking in, if you see what I mean!!!

Yep, not kicking in - or waking up with great reluctance.

The taper was faster -- down from 9 to 7 in three weeks

No - from 10mg down never more than 1mg per month! Faster is predictive of flares and you don't want one of those!
