Hi all after 4 years relatively free of PMR it’s back with a vengeance, the only difference now is I’m taking blood pressure medication as it’s increased in the last couple of years together with pre diabetes.
My question is , is it safe to take prednisone with these changes in my health conditions.
Anyone who’s in the same situation as I am and taking pred with problems or knows whether it’s I’ll advised , I would be pleased to hear from.

It is - I take BP medications as well as other heart medication alongside pred and it is fine.
If you are already pre-diabetic I suggest you cut your carbs in your diet drastically as pred can make pre-diabetes worse. Cutting dietary carbs does help a lot.
I too am on blood pressure medications and it doesn't seem to be a problem with pred. I was already on them before I started and they have been increased recently for better management. Currently on 2mg pred having been off it altogether before getting covid.
For exercise, make sure you listen to your own body. When it starts to feel too much, stop.
lots of people on Pred are on b/p meds and/or are diabetic and some on them because of Pred.
I can’t stress the low carbs enough as Pred can really monkey with blood sugars. Exercise must be approached with caution and Pred and PMR make one more susceptible to injury. Start at the bottom, which is further than you think, and work up. Most find it can’t be used as a way to blast through PMR and one has to keep vigilant for tendon and ligament injuries, especially as the Pred effect accumulates.
There are no drug interactions between Pred and BP or Diabetes meds. Pred may raise BP and make your diabetes worse, but PMRPro has advised on cutting carbs.Me: retd Pharmacist
I've been off pred for 2 years.I'm under a lot of stress at the moment and feeling depressed and so low.I'm worried pmr will come back.Have you had anything happen that has brought back your pmr?
My PMR has done exactly that and I put it down to great humidity here in Canada, I also have MS so it can be confusing. Try drugs.com/drug_interactions... Type. Your drugs and see if there are interactions. Good luck. Jane
