I am traveling to Portugal next month from the west coast of Canada. We will be up for about 24 hrs on 3 flights and a 9 hour time change. I am on 3.5 mg of prednisone then will be 3 mg hopefully. I am reducing .5 a mg per month., as have had two flare in the last 2 years. Should I take an extra dose partway through the trip to make sure I don’t create any problems with inflammation. Then go back to my 7 am usual dosage time. Thank you

travel dosage question
I just take the normal daily dose at the local times when travelling from the Americas to Europe because they are short days and you effectively do have extra in a period of 24 hours.
Going back with the long days, I take more as described here

I wouldn't continue tapering until after the holiday though and make sure you have plenty of spare pred with you in your hand luggage so it doesn't get lost.
Now you have posted there are related posts - but my take on long haul
Having flown UK/NZ with and without GCA -and can’t do much longer than that- this is may take on things-
General advice -
Long before GCA, my son always said put your watch (and mind) on local time in country of arrival -and work to that.
On arrival keep the time you take your meds the same -so if it’s 7 am your time -make it 7am local time wherever you are.
Depending on which way you are going… forwards in time or back you need to think about medication times.
Just sit down with times of flights and work out..always better to take an extra dose or half dose than not enough .
Make sure all meds in original boxes, copy of prescription and anything else relevant in your hand luggage.
Book assistance-always a long walk at airport. Also the cabin crew will be aware so will be a bit more attentive - makes life so much easier.
Don’t do too much for a couple of days after flight, but most of all enjoy yourself!
Worked for me …
