Hi, I was doing alright on 8mg pred and went to visit a friend in a nursing home last Saturday. I ended up pushing her around the garden in her wheelchair (why I did that I don't know) but I now am experiencing stiffness and slight pain in my shoulders/back etc. I increased my pred to 10mg yesterday (Friday) but should I expect immediate relief or should I give it a few days to get into my system or doesn't it work like that? I don't want to increase more than I have to as it can play havoc with my palpitations. I know I've been stupid! Thanks.

Been stupid!
why I did that I don't know
Because you are her friend…., sounds much like delayed onset muscle soreness (DOMS ) -time, heat therapy, ordinary painkillers may help -

…see how it goes over the next few days -it may or may not have affected your PMR -so a few more days at 10mg probably won’t do too much harm.
Thank you, that's what I'm hoping, that it's more a physical thing than a flare (not that flares aren't physical)! It certainly isn't dreadful (touch wood) so I'll stay on 10mg for a bit then and give it time. Doris is 94years old and I honestly sometimes think she's in better condition than me (69)!! Thanks for speedy reply DorsetLady.x
I agree with DL - sounds much more like DOMS than the PMR flaring and pred doesn't really do much for DOMS. Paracetamol might make you feel less sore though.
It’s easy to become caught up in the moment. My personal experience of muscle strain is that it isn’t helped by Pred particularly. Even on high doses it didn’t help, I still got it if I over did it! It goes on longer than a couple of days too and reaches parts one wasn’t aware were working overtime.
I would have thought the best thing you can do is wallow in a warm bath, I was going to say surrounded by rose petals, but that be overdoing it!
I find Epsom salts in the bathwater helps with DOMS. Also, be prepared for it to take longer than you may expect for it to resolve.
