increasing pred for flares...what next?

I've been moving along on 2mg prednisone for the past two months . I had a few health issues in addition to grieving the loss of my spouse . All this gradually increased my inflammation until i was in pain and stiff. I added 5mg extra to the 2mg for the past 5 days. I'm feeling a bit better. How long should I keep at the 7mg and what dose should I return to ?

This link gives usual advice for dealing with a flare- so you need to stay at higher dose for longer, as it says up to 14days is okay]-

Bit difficult to say isn't it since it isn't just a case of you having overshot the dose you need. Though the stress of losing your husband should be less of a factor now (it is for me at least on a similar timescale) you don't really know where it started to go wrong. I certainly wouldn't go lower than 3mg but I would also not be in a hurry to reduce further at present. Be sure the 3mg is still plenty first.
