I have tapered over 2yrs to 1 1/2mg daily Pred. In the last week I have really bad muscle pain in my left upper arm. I am right handed. I can't lift my arm without pain. No neck or hip issues as when diagnosed. I have done nothing to have strained a muscle that I can think of. Paracetamol hasn't helped at all. Have to wait 3 weeks for the doctor's appt. Is this unlikely to be a PMR flare ?
Thank you in advance for any advice. It will be much appreciated.

Did it come on over night or was it a creeper? Where exactly on the arm does it hurt? When you say you did nothing, even if it was not much, did you do anything light but repetitive, hold something, brace yourself even if fleetingly?
It came on over time but is definitely getting worse. Pain is below shoulder at the back of my arm. Can only comfortably lift my arm now with my other hand. Muscle aches even when my arm is still I looked up rotator cuff injury but it doesn't sound like that . My husband thinks you're right and even putting up our stiff rotary line has caused it . I'm now banned from doing that ever again! Thank you for your reply. We're all I know grateful for the advice/help received here especially when getting to see a GP is so difficult now.
Lucky you - mine rang me once when I was on a working trip to ask how to put the washing machine on as he'd run out of shirts! I left a detailed "How to ..." after that, couldn't follow that either he claimed! He had the cheek to ask my mother ...
He wasn't too bad until we went to live in Germany where I didn't work. Before that he'd always shared the washing up but that suddenly stopped. I protested and was told none of his colleagues helped with the washing up. What they hadn't mentioned to him was that they all had dishwashers! It was my birthday present to myself the following summer when we moved. But he never learned how to load it logically - I could get nearly twice as much in as him. And he was totally dense about "whites" and "coloureds" - and I am totally compulsive about grey whites from mixing things up!
So a few weeks ago I was walking innocently along (having just had an agility lesson with the dogs!) anyway excruciating pain in my arm - this happens because I broke and dislocated that shoulder a few of years ago and normally disperses after a few minutes, this time I was still in agony after hours so next day I booked an osteopath appointment and the relief when I saw her, she said I had basically managed to seize the muscles down my ribs which was why moving my arm was so uncomfortable! A month later and I have most of the movement back although it’s still a bit limited but whatever I did - which I thought was nothing - caused all of the left side surrounding my shoulder to decide not to work without pain.
Anyway, if you have access to an osteopath or similar then make an appointment and get it sorted out, you will not regret spending the money!
Who would have thought muscles down ribs could cause arm issues. Glad you're on the mend now.I shall take your advice especially as GP will only suggest stronger painkillers I know.
