I have a similar query to others re a muscle pain, mine started 3 or 4 weeks ago in left hip/buttock area, it is not near the surface so I cannot massage it.
The strange thing is that I only feel it when laying down and turning over in bed, I never feel it when on my feet walking, going up stairs or mowing the lawns, I have deliberatley moved my leg in all directions whilst standing up and no sign of pain so I am fairly confident it is not in the joint.
It is not getting any worse yet, but it is also not going away.
Any ideas please

I have looked up those suggested conditions, it could quite possibly be piriformis syndrome, it does not feel like SI joint problems, certainly there is no cronic pain, so I am going to have a look at the suggested treatment and action recommended for piriformis syndrome and give it a try
That is exactly how my PMR started before it spread. But it was on both sides so bi- lateral. it was a very strange feeling. At first i thought i had a.double groin strain and the doc thought it was arthritis.
Then shortly after I got pain in shoulders neck etc which helped doc make the diagnosis of PMR after suggestion by.my Physio and he put me on 15mg of pred.
Pain went within 2 days! I have now tapered to 10 and so far so good no pain or stiffness.
