This is my second go-round with PMR. The first taper took 2.5 years and only was effective when I used the DSM. This time I am tapering 1mg every two weeks after I reduced from 15mg to 12.5to 10mg . I am currently on a 3mg dose of PRED. So far I have not had any flares only a couple of days of low energy and low mood at each reduction.
I am wondering what my adrenals are doing at this point. I it possible that they are "waking up"?

Hopefully yes! If you don’t feel tired and washed out, probably. Always carry your Pred though because even though they might be doing the job under normal circumstances, it doesn’t mean they’ll work adequately if you have a stressful event, be it physical or mental.
Yes I will keep the PRED nearby. Our family is going through a difficult time with one of my grandson's so your reminder about stress is helpful. Thank you for taking time to reply.
Maybe - hope so, bur as SnazzyD says carry your Pred... and maybe you should slow down the tapering - 1mg every 2 weeks might be too ambitious at such low doses....
