update on flare versus muscle pain contd

Thank you everyone for your kind words. i will stay on 11mg pred for the time being. I am really struggling with the side effects of the various pain killers, blood pressure meds and water tablets; everything seems to list nausea, constipation and sleepiness as a side effect. The nausea in particular has ruined my appetite. Carer has suggested a bed rest day today in the hopes I feel better tomorrow.

Hope it works - but I think you need some expert pain relief advice. Have you been given something to help the nausea?

no nothing for nausea, I'm trying peppermint tea and ginger biscuits, but not helping much

Then make it clear to them you need something - some painkillers cause nausea and they should give something for that as well.

GP did a house call today, to be fair to him he was here about an hour, and has reviewed all my medication, added some laxatives. He didn't give me anything for nausea yet as he thinks that sorting out the constipation problem will help with that. He's referring me for an MRI scan and to the Musculoskeletal department and district nurses will come to the house to do a range of blood tests. He also tested various nerve endings around my back etc and that all seemed satisfactory. I didn't take any of the Oxycodone today as I wanted to be alert for his visit. Daughter was here and able to make notes. Haven't been in as much pain today and at least I've eaten small meals without feeling sick.

Hope so too…but as PMRpro says you need medical input…

Nothing better than a duvet day to restore perspective. There's something delicious about surrendering, giving way, keeping warm and reading or listening to the radio (daytime telly?) or dozing, eating chocolate, resting. Then bouncing back the next day invigorated and packed with optimism. Whoops! You're going to ask me what I'm on 😂
