Covid

I am lying in hospital having been here for one month and having just had Covid. I had had PMR for 3 years and back up to 15 mg when back stopped working, had deep sciatica like pains in back and legs and could not rise from pillow nor walk to bathroom. Daughter dialled 111. My O2 of 85 got a 999 ambulance and I have been here ever since. Terrible pain in lower back. Walking an agony but improving. I’m taking 25mg Lyrica 2x a day and oxycodone 2x day as well as 15 mg Pred.

I am due to go home (alone) on Tuesday with a care package of morning and evening every day and feel lucky to get it. I still don’t know what happened! Covid I guess. I am about half as capable as I was a month ago. Barely mobile now. Hugs gratefully received!

Hi Abbeynan82,

So sorry to hear of your 'struggles'. My goodness you've had a lot to deal with.

I sincerely hope that being home finally will make you feel more settled and therefore:-

- aid a further improvement in your condition and therefore:-

- bring about a faster recovery.

Must feel a challenge to stay positive right now, but I would see being home as the first step towards achieving these goals.

Good luck for Tues and let us know how you're getting on.

Sending hugs.

Big hugs!

Sounds like a nasty mix that - I have similar back problems but here they are usually quite good at sorting them out and I've never had them mixed with Covid.

What an awful time you’re having. Have they found the cause of your pain?

I developed awful back and groin pains and tried physio, Chiro, osteopaths & GPs with no explanation. I could hardly walk or get out of a chair etc. After an X-ray didn’t show anything wrong I paid to see a Rheumatologist who did an MRI scan that my GP couldn’t order and it showed two insufficiency fractures in my sacrum. Seems I have some osteoporosis, osteopenia and osteoarthritis together with my PMR. Taken 3-4 months for the pain to go away. I’d never have known the cause of the pain without an MRI.

Hopefully you will see improvement soon x

You have been through a very difficult time. But two positives- you’re going home and you’ve got a care package in place. Just need to give yourself time to slowly adjust and strengthen yourself. So sorry you’ve had to go through all this but hopefully onwards and upwards! Let us know how you get on. Lots of warm hugs sent from here!! Xx💐💐

hi Abbeynan82! Poor you, ain’t life a bitch! We are all thinking of you. I too got the dreaded covid last October, 3 weeks of hell, now left with long covid, no taste or smell, but tapering now really well and no pain, and down to 1.5mgs just over two years, but still think another year. I too live alone. But keep smiling, we will win. Hugs and prayers.

Thanks to everyone for support. I suspect 15mg of Pred is not enough, but cannot convince anyone. Other pain killers are not working. What can I do if even hospital has not focussed on pain? Physio did me in as well, they being certain stair climbing would get me into my own house. Tick box, but big pain. 😟

Now I know I have brain fog - but I’m confused! Thanks for letting us know - are you going to be known as Mickey39 or Abbeynan?? 🤔
