I have arthritis in my hip awaiting hip replacement however I’m taking 6.5 of Pred. I have really bad pains/stiffness in that leg from top to bottom of my shin which the Dr has put me on gabapentin which so fat (3+ weeks) has not made any difference. Could this be a PMR flare or is it the nerve pain the doctor has said it is?

I am on tramadol naproxen amitriptyline paracetamol. I was put on morphine but it did nothing so stopped it. Now on1200 mg of gabapentin with the option of going up to 1500. So far that is not working☹️
if sat down or laying down I can feel if I move but it’s a lot worse when I get up to stand then eases off slightly when I walk about however still very painful
Hi I was in the same place as you waiting for left hip replacement . PMR mainly affected both legs and walking very difficult. Had quite a lot of pain in left thigh only down to knee. In an effort to loose pred weight gain before surgery I cut out bread pasta cake etc and within 5-6 days 80% of the pain went. Over the next 8 weeks the rest of pain went. It made no difference to my walking which I could not but was so much more comfortable and able to stop painkillers apart from bedtime. I have since read online that carbs effect some arthritis quite severely and that was the case for me. Good Luck whatever you choose to do.
I used to get awful pain and a burning sensation in the lower part of my leg whilst waiting for a hip replacement, especially when standing, but it all went after the operation. Just waiting for the other one now in June, touchwood 🫤
