do any of you have swollen lymph’s was told Monday I might have PMR but feeling so weak and so tired
lymph PMR: do any of you have swollen lymph’s was... - PMRGCAuk
lymph PMR
Told by whom? Any other symptoms that might indicate PMR?
Weak and tired can cover many things…have you had blood tests etc to rule out other illnesses?
went to A&E on Monday said slight inflammation in bloods put me on 15mg Prednisone but no improvement yet. But lymph nodes are swollen in several places today
Not sure that swollen lymph nodes are that common in PMR - so think I want further investigation…
Some people get almost instant relief on Pred, but for others it can take longer - so maybe give it another few days.
Fatigue certainly could be PMR - and sorry to keep asking questions but by weakness do you mean like you get with flu -or do your arms, shoulders, hips, legs feel stiff, particularly in the morning. For example, can you lift arms above shoulder level? Walk up stairs?
Have you been able to see GP or did A&E refer you to rheumatologist?
no not stiffness I have muscle pain when I lift in my arms. Even holding a towel. This then went to both arms and neck, shoulder pain. I saw GP on Monday as felt so ill. I feel bodily ache weak extremely tired. Really struggling like flu weakness.
Thank you for replies 😍
What made them think it was PMR and not an infection? Are you on any other medication? If it is an infection steroids are the wrong thing without antibiotics as well. On the face of what little you have told us, it doesn’t really sound right that you are like this after a week on Pred with new swollen lymph nodes. If you are on Pred and it is PMR you don’t expect to be tip top and back to normal but…I would not sit over the weekend without calling 111. However, a bit more history about what led to you going to A&E and what they tested for, might help to fill in the gaps.
Hi and welcome,
Lymphadenopathy (swollen lymph nodes) is not a typical feature in PMR but it would appear in some of the other underlying causes of the symptoms.
PMR isn't the actual disease, it is the name given to a set of symptoms and they can be caused by a range of underlying causes. In fact, sometimes even a PET-CT scan will LOOK like PMR but there are other features seen that show it isn't "just" PMR.
The blood tests on Monday should include a few tests that will differentiate between potential causes of your symptoms and then they will go from there.
