Changing the time I take Pred.

My "active" day usually runs from 6am - 4pm! I don't do much in the evenings and usually retire at 9pm! So it is important that I feel good in the mornings and it doesn't really matter how I feel in the evenings! I have always taken my Pred after breakfast at about 7.30am but wonder if I would be better taking it at say 8pm? I often don't feel that good in the mornings when I need to! I have had PMR for nearly 5 years and am presently on 2.5 mgs daily. Any suggestions welcome!

If your "active day" starts at 6am why not take it then rather than later at 7.30am for a week or so to see if that makes any difference.

If not, then you could consider at night.

But if you are only raising the issue now at 2.5mg and after 5 years perhaps it adrenals stuttering or too low a dose for you PMR.

Bit more info might help rather than "I don't feel that good in the morning" - in what way exactly?

Best way to describe it would be somewhat devoid of strength (which seems to improve as the day goes on) and somewhat fuzzy headed. Not exactly enthusiastic about the day ahead. Thankfully, I don't have that many aches any more.

In that case could be more adrenal related - have a look at this link -

Not a good idea to take it at 8pm now you are at such a low dose as it means there will be pred in your blood stream at midnight and that will not encourage the adrenal production of cortisol. Like DL, I suspect your problem is mostly adrenal and as such taking the pred as early as possible in the mornings would be a better solution.

Thank you, PMRpro. I will keep some by my bed then. Is it OK to take them on an empty tum?

Most people take some yoghurt or a glass of milk, piglette uses a piece of hard cheese. It depends on your stomach - and it is a low dose.
