What is going on?

I am at 14 mg ( starting in 2020 at 80 mg ) of Prednisone. I have noticed that there are days when I wake up and my shoulders, arms and hips really hurt. I find that am not able to do much because of the pain and total exhaustion. I usually feel this way until late afternoon and then I am basically feeling ok. Is this strange? I just never know from hour to hour how I will feel. When I do feel more human, I definitely pace myself and do not take on too much to do in a day.

Always appreciate this forum. Thank you.

Pamper yourself, you deserve it. PMR is life changing so give yourself a treat every so often. Even if it is just relaxing in warm scented water in the tub with a glass of wine.

Sounds heavenly ( if I could only do that. ) I would end up with a UTI-lol. I will figure out something equally as wonderful. Thank you for your suggestion.

When did this start as in how long ago and at what dose? Is it every day?

I looked over my logs and I think that I have been trying to live as normal a life as before. Even though I think I am not doing much I am. Thank you for your insight

I take it you didn't feel like this at higher doses? Have you tried keeping a diary to try and link activities the previous day and the symptoms? You may not THINK you are doing much that doesn't mean it isn't TOO much for you at present.

You are quite correct. Thank you for pointing this out.

My Dr. gave me celebrex to help me to taper and it did the trick, After over 3 years of pred use, I finally got off. I still take celebrx daily. Prayers for you.

So this is my conundrum: my rheumy feels that he is not sure I have PMR. He wants me to go to a physiatrist to see if I need some type of procedure to alleviate the neck pain - which would alleviate the shoulder pain and heaviness in the arms. At this point I have no idea what is going on. Last year I had an MRI of my neck and the results were not earth shattering. The ortho did not know what to do with me as also the PT . I did make an appointment with the physiatrist ( at the end of March). I decided I will try a chiropractor to see if I can get any relief. I feel as if I am in an alternate universe at this point. Has anyone experienced this? Once again, thank you all.

This doubt of PMR seems particularly prevalent amongst the US rheumies for some reason. The UK is slowly getting the hang of it!
