Adding to Hairy PMR Tales
Could be a new look 🙂!
I have had a long blonde hair to the left of my mouth for many many years. It is very fine but I saw it in a rogue moment of sunlight today and plucked it. I have another, even longer (2-3 inches), one on my chest. Are you sure that yours is new?
I am an avid plucker but it had been there long enough to grow an inch😬🤢😬
My Mum used to tell me off for plucking my eyebrows; she said for every hair I plucked two would grow in its place. Keep an eye on your chest 🫣.
👍 I have never plucked my thighs. It hasn't helped.
I can’t see my thighs. My stomach blocks the view.
You can see lots of parts with a mirror. 😂
No thanks.😵💫
I wish I hadn't.
Ha ha ha a welcome laugh on unwanted hairs!! I haven't checked my thighs or anywhere south for quite some time but I have gone so thin on my head that I am thinking of getting some temporary hair extensions after cutting my hair to a bob in a fit of pique!
nooooo
thank you Marryfield, Seacat30 and 123-go that thread made me laugh so much the other menopausal issue of weak pelvic floor became an issue 😂😂
🤭
although I’ve been steroid free for nearly 40 years and only took them for 4 years I’m as hairy as a yeti. I’ve been shaving my legs toe to hip my entire life and the hair is a sharp and black as a mans five o’clock shadow. The hair on my arms is lighter but still dark brown, curly and grows to over 2 inches long, I bleach this. I have fine soft light down all over my neck and face and private hair is thick long curly and turning grey which I hate. I can no longer tolerate the pain of a wax down there so pluck out the worst. The really awful bit is the menopausal bristles that emerge weekly under my chin, I pluck these too as they are very obvious. Perversely my head hair is baby fine and thin!
I think that is Soddes' Law?!
Have you tried an electric epilator? They're very good for a whizz all over your face. If they miss an odd hair you can use tweezers. I lost most body hair through being hypothyroid. No complaints there, didn't have to shave undearms etc! But face decided to be hairy. I haven't noticed any increase in facial hair since being on steroids for PMR but poor old hair on head is very scraggy and sorry for itself, it used to be my 'crowning glory'. As if we're not feeling rotten enough we have to look it too.😡😡😡
goodness! my most abundantly growing hair is on my face! my hairiest uncle used to burn the hair out of his navel as a bar trick😯
I recommend Tweezermen tweezers. They work.
thanks I’ll check them out
In Boots the Chemist or online. Sad fact of aging.
Hair has become the new thing. Me thinks it could be worse. My once lovely silvery salt, now has a huge amount of pepper in it and I mean dark hairs, fairly course. Facial fuzz is taken care of with a derma-plane razor which also removes dead skin cells. Lovely picture. The hair on my arms has grown a lot and long and much to my surprise a ginger colour. I never had much arm hair in my life. Not sure what's on my back. Cannot get a good view of the wobbly bits either. I wonder if you pluck that long, blonde hair will two grow back in its place?
A few months into my PMR journey the Pred had turned my once silken locks into wire that would have given a Brillo pad a run for its money. Happily, now that I'm down to 5mg my hair's silkiness has returned - well almost.
Lucky you ! After 72 years of being an extremely hirsute male I now have about 3 hairs on each eyebrow (previously a monobrow) and that's it, nothing anywhere!! My skin feels cold and clammy all the time. It really messed up my nails as well, they are starting to recover now that I am off the Pred. but I don't think my hair will return😪
Microplaning.
???
despite the down side(s) of PMR it's so good to hear from people with a sense of humour!
Thank you for sparking such a wonderful thread (if that's the right word) -
I haven't laughed out loud as heartily since the last edition of 'Would I Lie to you' (BBC1 Friday evening) I watched with Bob Mortimer on one of the panels.
If readers of this post can access this show, I heartily recommend it.
Had a really good laugh reading this thread. I use Nair - and my username is the clue
I have hair.... not a lot. The hair I do have is now silver. Just thought I would mention it.
I find that my failing eyesight compensates for the bristles popping out of my chin as I can’t see them. That’s fine until my 7 year old granddaughter points them out to me!! Now prior to seeing her the magnifying mirror and tweezers come out🤣
I remember being fascinated by the black hairs that grew out of a mole on my primary school teacher's face. I know that kids will spot anything like that on me now.
What I want to know is whether the shortish hair on my temples and in front of my ears is regrowth where I was quietly going bald or new facial hair? I have been studying old photos and can't quite make up my mind.
🤔
on it
There were times I have despaired....hair falling out in clumps from a proud head of a sleek shiny bob style...replaced by wiry untameable curls and a chin beard ! But whilst not back to my former ' beauty' and apart from the constant fight against the profusion of moustache growth, things have dramatically improved now I'm at 4mg pred. I can laugh about it now, but it was awful . You will have new highs again !
Just had to up medrol to 24 mgs due to symptomatic shoulder. Not helping. 🫤 I can always shave my face or get it waxed. But I hate the steroid shakes and my teeth have become super sensitive. And I am under tremendous stress after a terrible loss.
its great to read here that I am not the only one who has to get rid of unwanted hair!! x
Your comments have provoked a wave of funny responses...it's so good to laugh , even with our head in our hands in despair...thank you 😄 😉 😆
