yesterday,rang,me.Your,platelets,are,high.Isuggest,you,see,a,blood,specialist.i,say,doesn‘t,the,steroid,,make,high,platelets?Yes,but,you,could,have,lots,of,other,things,wrong,with,you.Me,whatsort,of,things?He,lots,of,things.Me,panic,stress.Just,tapered,to,2.25,today,and,for,the,last,month,feeling,fantastic pain,free,,and,normal.Me,but,I,feel,wonderful.He,good,but,do,you,agree,to,see,a,blood,specialist?Me,I,am,now,very,anxious.He,snapping,whatever,for?Me,Because,of,what,you,said,about,other,things.He,you,have,nothing,to,worry,about.I,will,arrange,it.Phone,down.I,am,85,years,old,live,alone.Now,terrified.Last,night,Went,to,supermarket,pain,everywhere,had,to,be,helped,back,to,the,car.Upped,Pred,to3mg,bed,decided,no,consultation,and,try,to,revert,back,to,previous,doctor,today,fine.

I would suggest he may be in the wrong job ... Decided "fail" on empathy!!!!!!

Good to hear you feel better today, I know it’s difficult but just try and let what he said go…as PMRpro says his lack of empathy certainly needs addressing. … and hopefully next contact will be with a more understanding GP.

Oh dear, yet another doctor whose interaction skills with their patients needs to be addressed. You've had a brilliant month and, hopefully, are continuing to feel fine today. Try and put the conversation behind you and carry on as before as it's obviously working for you.

My experience with a locum GP recently was so different to that of Gossiplady. She was so caring, listening to me and bending down to soothe my painful hands. I’m not reduced to tears very often but on this occasion I was, it wasn’t what I had been expecting. She was running 40 minutes late because she was empathetic and thorough, giving each patient time to express themselves. As well as being caring she was very efficient and I can honestly say the best GP I have seen.

further to my ghastly time with a new doctor, I sent a personal letter to my previous doctor asking whether I could be transferred back to her, giving her every possible compliment I could think of, then saying that the new doctor was obviously a very competent doctor but he would never be her good self. Cringe! I think it has worked.
