Did a repeat today but at a restaurant with sticky toffee pudding instead of Christmas pudding. Can’t have the same old thing all the time!!

My daughter had STP yesterday. Some cookery article on the TV was making the most amazing looking one the other day but it looked awful hard work chopping all the dates and beating the butterscotch sauce ...

tempusfugi profile image
tempusfugi in reply toPMRpro

PMRpro, excuse my ignorance but what is STP? Have googled but getting some odd responses!

Me neither - at least in the UK you can buy a decent one. They haven't reached here!

Merry Christmas to everyone.I hate to but Xmas was the worst I've ever had .My granddaughter has kept our tradition of sleeping over with her husband As everyone drifted off to sleep but me I hear two huge bangs. Our pipes had frozen.,Steam and a river of water is spewing out.I yell to my husband the pipes have broke.I go to call the fire dept doesnt my husband who uses a walker meets my granddaughter in the hall now the water is higher He faints while she tries to lower him to the floor. Then his head goes back and now he hits the wall and is bleeding.Starts to come around then faints again. My granddaughter has never seen him do this so comes screaming in the living room she thinks he's died.I run now to check him.He starts to wake up but not fully and resists when we try to get him to a dryer area .Thank god the fire dept comes and he's now lucid and vitals were ok.My presents were floating and soaked by this time. Then I said we can replace things so I was grateful we were ok.Staying in a hotel now. This is the one xmas we ll never forget Sorry for the story but it was so scary.Upped my prednisone now waiting to relapse 💖💕

Oh my word what a terrible experience for you all, so sorry to hear what you’ve all been through. Praise for the Fire Service - also your comment things can be replaced, everyone is safe, what a relief, so very true. Sending 🤗 hugs to you and your family,

So very sorry for you but at least you are all ok. This seems to be a major problem all over. I live in the Atlanta, GA area where we had minus temperatures and so many people had their house pipes frozen. Crazy climate change, crazy times. 2023 has to be better. Sending good vibes to all.

How horrible and distressing for you. Glad everyone is okay, albeit shaken….good idea to preempt a flare…hope extra Pred does the trick.

Oh heavens what an awful experience at any time, let alone Christmas. Glad to hear that all seem to be OK. Hugs and best wishes and hope you manage to get house sorted out quickly. 🤗🤗

So sorry - that beats most bad Christmas stories - hope the shock has subsided now. But the other reason for calling the Firies would have been a lot worse!

Happened to friends who went home to Ireland for Christmas and he was too mean to leave the heating on fully. The temps plunged to -25C in Scotland that year so of course everything froze before a sudden return to temps way above freezing. A neighbour going to feed the cat opened the front door to a wall of water after many hours of leaks. And again because he was mean - they weren't fully insured ...

Hope it is sorted soon.

Thanks for the reply. It was very stressful but iam happy my husband was shook up but vitals were ok.I think iam more stressed now than him I have to sort things out.The firemen threw what was wet in our beds to drain some of the water.Gift bags were floating in the water My granddaughter said someone would have to experience it to get the impact of it all.

At least it was clean water - I hope? The trouble is - it gets everywhere. My daughter had a sewage leak in the flat I own - a rate chewed through a plastic waste pipe. She has to move out after New Year for it to be sorted. That was back in September! Lot to be said for something a bit tougher.

It actually was grey water so not sure if it's safe to breathe. We re in a hotel now.Thank god my daughter is my insurance agent which has been helpful. The water had a horrible smell. So much steam we couldn't see.I only went up 1mg if prednisone so not sure if I should take more?I had such stress this year I only got down to 12mg from 15.

So very sorry to hear what happened yesterday, Hunter134 but equally glad to hear you are all ok. As you say, it could have been worse (though not much). Hope the New Year brings a happier time for all our US cousins.
