Hi
I’ve reduced to 6.5 mgs Pred and my eyes are sore (recovering from cold?) - and I am a slightly dizzy. Would this be a normal response to lower dosage or should I see a GP in case it’s low blood pressure? Your wisdom would be much appreciated 😀

Hello, dizzy covers a lot of things. When are you dizzy? All the time, when you move your head, getting up from sitting? How long does it last? How would you describe your dizziness? For example, is it a general light headedness, does the world move? Is it when you look at things? Any particular times of the day? How long have you had it for? Does anything make it better or worse? Sorry for the questions but if you see a doctor they’ll need this kind of detail.
Thanks Snazzy, good questions. It’s a slight lightheadedness, had it for a few days while recovering from a cold and reducing Pred to 6.5 The pharmacist has suggested Actifed to unblock the sinuses and if that doesn’t help I’ll contact my GP x
If your nasal passages are blocked watch out for the tendency not to breathe properly. I’ve been reminded of this as at the moment I’m bunged up and whilst I have a more than adequate breathing hole (mouth) I’m still breathing in silly gasps and sniffs. That can certainly make me lightheaded!
Perhaps reducing while still recovering was a step too far for the adrenal function that you have. If it were me I’d perhaps just have a few days where you were fine, presumably 7mg, and see if it goes away.
It probably is a combination of post viral symptoms and the body complaining about the reduction in Pred. However, it is a good idea to monitor our own blood pressure as hypertension can be a side effect of Pred use. A good blood pressure machine can be purchased quite cheaply on-line. I think mine was about £30.00. I am frequently asked to provide readings for the doctor as my BP is often on the high side. If you have a history of low blood pressure I would definitely have it checked out.
Take great care of your eye hygiene, in my experience these eye infections cling on. I have dry eye drops and Blepharitis eye wipes plus ointment when it flares up. Get well soon!
I found you can get dizziness from when your adrenal glands have to start waking up at around 7mg. In fact I even started to faint. At one point by blood pressure was checked just after I fainted and it was 54/45! The doctor’s eyes were sort of popping out and he just laughed, I think it was a nervous one. It went up again pretty quickly though.
Thanks Piglette - I did wonder!
Maybe try eye drops for sore eyes - Theoluz Duo are good - have you got home blood pressure monitor to check blood pressure - can be reassuring
With all you have going on...I was thinking along the lines of Daffodilia...I know I'm late to the game. Dry eyes can be tough. I have an Rx but drop Systane in 4-5 times a day and it is such a relief!!! Good luck💞
