PMR since 2020 . Couple of flares along the way. Im now down to 3 mg. I wake in the morning no pains can literally jump out of bed !! However after a couple of hours have severe pain just in my thigh muscles. It does ease after resting but always back the nxt day. Would I be in pain on waking if it was PMR. 🌺🌺

Hello, Nanny71. The fact that your thigh pain isn't felt on waking makes me feel that it may not be due to a flare but rather a blood circulation problem.
Personally, I would contact my GP/rheumatologist: any new symptoms should be reported but others will advise so watch for replies.
I agree with 123-go that if your pain was due to the buildup of inflammation you’d be waking with it, the classic time for PMR pain. There are a number of causes that need ruling out. Where in the thighs exactly is it? Do you do the same activity each morning before it comes on?
Its from top of leg to knee both sides.Paracetemol takes the edge off for a while. Putting my legs on the sofa helps to. Guess its a call to Gp. Thanks for reply 🌺
It can also help the doc form a diagnosis if you can say whether it’s front, sides (inner or outer) and back. I know, every time it’s doctor time, it’s a case of, “here we go again”, finding one, getting an appointment, getting there…..
Hello Nanny71, I had that few weeks ago, however, still had stiffness and pain on waking, but had MRI, and exrays, can be anything from tendonitiis, bursitis, origination from hips or anywhere, also had severe groin pain, results were as above, and also small tears in tissue around hip joint, it since has settled thank goodness, but many sleepless nights during that time
I get that too in the quadriceps femoris, the big muscle at the front of the thigh and the TFL tensor fasciae latae. It comes and goes. When present this area becomes weak and sore. My PMR went into remission suddenly after catching Covid in July. No neck, shoulder or arm pains since then just the annoying thigh problem. It is noticeably worse if I do a lot of digging in the garden, squatting, stair climbing (I live in a bungalow) or sit for long periods. Swimming, walking and stretching this muscle group helps a lot. I put it down to over use, delayed onset muscle soreness and the effects of long term steroid use. I still follow DSNS(at 2mg) because although I'm sure the PMR is no longer active, my adrenal cortex function is still compromised. I take 400mg of Ibuprofen at bedtime when it's lurking and that usually prevents it. If you Google the muscles at the front and side of the thigh you may get some clues to prompt the Drs?
