antibiotics and a flare

hello does anyone know if ABX can cause a flare? I had tapered down to 2.5 then had 2 lots of ABX and flared so up to 6mgs for 5 days now down to 3mgs.

Possibly - but the infection for which you were given the abx probably played a part. Normally you are advised to increase pred in line with Sick Day Rules if you are ill enough to need to stay in bed or have abx.

As Pro says it could be the infection that’s causing you to flare rather than the antibiotics & depending on how poorly you are you may need to increase your Pred as per Pro’s comment below.

I had two 6month courses of antibiotics following a year of AB’s monthly but never altered my Pred Dose but if it’s a Chest Infection then after discussion with my GP l usually increase my Pred.
