Get registered for Energy Priority Services

My sister had an email from her electricity network provider (different to her electricity provider) asking if she needed to be on their priority services register. She told me about it, so I looked up my electricity and gas network providers (ie the people who put the pipes in the ground to bring the power to you) here:

energynetworks.org/customer...

Then I phoned each of them immediately and within minutes I'm registered as needing priority attention in the case of power cuts, outages, breakdowns etc. I didn't need to send any proof - or even tell them what my condition is - but it's wise to say 'yes' they can pass on your details to emergency services, British Red Cross etc locally, as it would be those local people who come to help you.

Of course, this doesn't help us pay for your heating ... being deemed eligible for winter fuel payments is still a battle to be had!

Please post the on any other networks for conditions that might be relevant. Thanks

If you are in the position where a power cut would seriously impact on your health ( some on this forum could fall into that category, as may other family members) then I imagine their supplier would already be aware. There is already a priority service register in place.

Thank you, it is always good to hear and know about services being joined up. Although my husband and I will not qualify I have a very frail 92 year old neighbour who will, I shall make sure she is aware of both services.I'm sure there will be other forum members who, even if they don't think they are eligible themselves will know someone who is.

Again, thank you.

I’m leaving this service for those in greater need, to be honest. I don’t feel I warrant priority attention, & I have 9 named diseases! I live in a forest…each time we have storms trees fall on lines, we have a power cut…but I can find a torch, use gas to make a hot drink, go to bed to keep warm etc! But if I was 90 or was wheelchair bound, had a terminal illness etc I think it’s a great service they offer! Thanks for bringing it to our attention.
