This came to my attention in the Lancet:

‘Better tools required for biopsy negative giant cell Arteritis’ click.notification.elsevier...

On registering I was allowed to read this technical paper, difficult to read/understand however.

It isn't for diagnosis though - it is standard criteria for research. I suspect that is why we have such problems getting diagnoses, to many doctors use the research criteria as diagnostic criteria - and that means that anything atypical is condemned as not GCA.
