I am now in my 5th year with PMR on a reducing dose of prednisolone, presently 6.5mg daily. About 6 months ago I developed a pain in the sub clavicle area at the very top of my chest. This manifested itself when I was doing matt exercises and lying flat on my back. The last few inches are murder. When I cough or sneeze I tend to automatically put pressure on my chest to reduce the pain. Recently I grabbed a week in the sun and ended up with a stinking cold, yes lots of sneezing and coughing and what I was dreading, pain in that part of my chest now even with minor movement. Waking up in the morning, no pain. Getting out of bed, very painful. Any advice?

Hi, HamishPMR. Methinks you need your doctor's advice. Have a look here:
Have you asked the GP?
In itially I said to my GP that I would follow NICE UK and he seemed happy with that, suggesting it would probably be a couple of years. Aye right as we would say in Scotland. When I found you guys I realised 2 years was not realistic. Not asking my GP? I tend now to pay attention to your epistles. And thank you PRpro.
2years is realist for some.but not for an awful lot more…😳
But perhaps you do need medical input on recent occurrences..
Is it at the attachment at the bottom end of the sternocleidomastoid muscle? In which case, SCM stretches might be helpful?

Sounds as if you should contact your GP. This forum is great for sharing our experience but we aren't medics and as a lay person, I would worry about chest and ung complications not the effects of Prednisolone.
Of course, I knew you would.
