Not offered physio , no - but I did decide to go to Pilates when I was at lower doses as I felt my legs in particular were weak. Maybe see if you can get a taster session to see if it’s for you. Many try tai chi as well.
Thanks DL. As a yoga teacher, (ex)I’ve done all of these and loved them. I’m doing bits on my own, asI can’t last a full hour yet,! Yes my legs which were so strong before are weak.
Good news about the weight loss!I wouldn't stop taking Pred abruptly even at 1mg as this may well be asking for problems. Reducing from 1 to zero can be taken slowly with 0.5mg drops every 4-6 weeks; this would be my preferred way to go.
There will no doubt be others who will come along with their experiences.
Even 1mg can be the difference between PMR being kept in check and not!
I doubt you would be OFFERED physio, ask for it though. My rheumy wants me to have physio but the system here means someone else gets the say-so and he gets fixated on the bursitis and less the other stuff. Until I moved here I did aquafit at my local gym (Bannatynes) and after that could manage Pilates and Iyengha yoga - even though I wasn't on pred at that time. It kept me upright. I needed the aquafit to be able to move! It was great as it was an off-peak membership and cheap as chips with superb teachers. No such options here unfortunately.
What a lovely position to be in. I would take one more little step and cut my last pill in two and add in that little precautionary tapering step. A physio would be glad to help, yoga, gentle swimming and Pilates would be good ie unless you are worried and feel that this should have separate medical attention.
are you on Statins?? that can REALLY make your muscles weak. I am at 1.5 and edging down.. I think when I lower it is from prednisone withdrawal however small... and not PMR. fingers crossed. Good luck with your final taper. I am lowing .5 this week and .5 twice next week and so on... very slowly.
