Update on my post of Mixed Feelings following first GP appointment since diagnosis

First of all, thank you to everyone for your supportive messages.

I've been back to Acute Emergency Care this morning. The good news is a blood clot in the lungs has been ruled out. I'm still breathless, but it's easier than last week, the doctor has told me there is still a rattle in my chest and she believed it's a combination of chest infection and asthma. I will have to have another CT scan in a couple of months.

I have been referred back to GP for blood tests to check for heart problems, but otherwise it was a relief to be sent home again.

I s gone through similar ER visits: shortness of breath with CT scans to rule out clots. My cardio doc found nothing. And I have asthma. I think pred has weakened my breathing muscles and I read something from a Chest journal saying that this improves as dose is lowered and enough exercise.

Thank you for your reply. I'm due to reduce the prednisolone dose again later this week, I've decided to try a slower taper this time in the hope the pain and stiffness will stay away. My breathing problems got worse after the last reduction plus we had unusually high temperatures. It's all trial and error. Yesterday I managed a walk around our small block for the first time in a few weeks. it probably only takes about 10 minutes, but it was a big improvement for me, so I will try and build up the exercise slowly.

I found it is common fir the breathing to get a little worse at first but improves with time. I’m 80
