thanks to those who replied yesterday. I said I would post following my GP appointment. I saw a GP who was surprisingly knowledgeable about PMR. She listened well and suggested it could be a flare. She’s given me 10 mg prednisolone for two weeks (I’m currently on 5mg) but is having a telephone conference with me next Monday to check how I am. If not improving full bloods etc. She also suggested B12 deficiency with prolonged use of Omoprazole? Interestingly many of the foods high in B12 I gave up following a possible first episode of gout earlier in the year. Anyone else had B12 issues with omeprazole?

Weak legs - update
Hi, Janet57. Thank you for the update. You will be the envy of a lot of people here: so refreshing to hear of a GP who is not only knowledgable about PMR but also a listener and conscientiously following up your issues.I don't have any experience with omeprazole but there will be many here who do.
Best wishes as you go forward.
Hi Janet, I was on lansoprazole for a fair while due to gastritis, pre GCA. Then switched to famotidine in December which I am still on. Couple of weeks ago, I felt dreadful, aching, brain fog, ‘walking through treacle’ found it hard to walk up the garden. B12 was normal but at the very bottom of the normal scale. GP put me on B12 tabs and I am now feeling a lot better, although it could be coincidence because I also increased my pred. GP agreed it could be malabsorption. Bloods done yesterday so awaiting results. I think it takes a while to increase B12 if it is low, but I am not an expert.
At a meeting with my consultant I mentioned I was taking magnesium for restless legs at night. She thought magnesium deficiency might be down to prolonged use of omeprazole. I've taken it for years for acid reflux, then an increase in dose when on high steroid dose. I'm trying to get by with only one 20mg per day but sometimes need a second one. Never thought about side effects but it obviously has some unexpected ones! I'll have a look at which foods are rich in B12.

Thanks for the link - yes, most of these I gave up at the beginning of the year. I’ll re-introduce some gently to see what happens
That is the trouble with drastically changing your diet - you have to think about what else may be going.
Absolutely-I was so frightened of getting the gout-like pain again I followed the diet to the extreme. Didn’t even think of the potential other impacts. Lesson learned 😬. Every day is a learning day.
Well she sounds on the ball. Best wishes on-going. X
