Hi, just been diagnosed with PMR on 15mg of Preds, 2 weeks now, I’d say I’m about 90 % better, just the mornings can have mild symptoms.

My grandson who is staying with us has just been diagnosed overnight with Scarlet fever, should I be concerned?

Im learning everyday about my journey so, could do with some experienced advice?

Thanks in advance.

The most experienced advice would come from your doctor, Spazzy55. That's not to say others on the forum won't offer trustworthy advice but if I were you I'd be on the phone to my doctor.Reading your post again, I'm not sure whether you are asking in terms of your grandson's or your own well-being. Your autoimmunity leaves you open to infection so bear that in mind.

I hope your grandson recovers soon.

Thanks, it was caught early I think, strep throat too, it wasn’t anywhere that bad, maybe a dozen small rashes that occurred 8 Hours after 1st AB taken! I’m hoping all is fine now for both of us!

Fingers crossed and I hope the little one is soon back to his usual self. 🙂

FWIW, after just 2 weeks on 15mg, the NHS wouldn't consider you particularly at risk from the Covid point of view. Even so, no-one wants scarlet fever and PMR! If you do get it, then obviously you will inform your GP. Fingers crossed!

If you develop any symptoms you will need to contact your doctor asap - and warning them in advance would be a good move since the symptoms can appear in 2 to 5 days after exposure.

Here is another link about it:

gov.uk/government/publicati....

It was common when my daughters were at school in Germany and one of them developed it the morning we were about to leave for the UK at the end of term for her father to start a new job there - I rushed her to the GP who took one look and did the swab to confirm it was scarlet fever and gave me the script for the antibiotic. She was really unwell so got shoved in the back of the car having taken her first dose of antibiotic and I set off to meet OH in Zeebrugge, he'd left much earlier and it was pre-mobile phones! I was in the car with her all day and so was her sister - neither of us got it so if you are lucky you may escape. Fingers crossed!

I had scarlet fever in 1956 and was put in an isolation hospital. Can’t remember much about it except I didn’t get the cherry lips my Mum brought me!

Was a different matter in those days with limited antibiotics wasn't it. My aunt was in the isolation hospital at Oswestry I think.

Believe so. I was in Kendray Hospital, outskirts of Barnsley. It’s a care home now. PS: when I tried to reply to

you just now it asked me to sign in or join.

As DL says - Hu faffing no doubt! Happened to me the other day but only for a few seconds and suddenly the sign in screen disappeared and all was well!

It is happening to me most days - for a few mins no email notifications will link to the site. Then it resets and is back to working. I wondered it it is google - but I can load other sites.

I think it more likely to be the post itself - maybe something happens whilst it’s being written or posted.

It seem to be just the odd one (in more than one way) and on all devices…

As I say more of a nuisance - but nevertheless a tad annoying…

Thx for the replies everyone. It seems 24 hours post antibiotics, he is no longer virulent, so I’ve kept my distance and all seems fine today! Now 48 hours since he started the ABs! His blotches are gone, he’s much better! What a pularva having this condition is!
