Alendronic Acid

when can I stop taking Alendronic Acid and Calcium pills. Fortunately I have been reducing steadily from 25mg prednisolone down to 4mgs in 11 months and hope to drop to mg 3next month. Do I still need the additional pills?

Really depends whether you have osteoporosis or osteopenia.? You don't have anything in your profile to indicate you have... but it's something you should discuss with your doctor, this was posted this morning on similar subject

Sorry for the slow reply. I am taking theAA only because I was put on prednisolone last September

Ok…but did you have a DEXAscan? Guessing not, many doctor prescribe because it’s in guidelines but not everyone needs it.

Many find Vit D/calcium supplement sufficient to protect bones, so suggest you remain on that..we also suggest adding in VitK2 to help absorption of calcium.

But do discuss need for AA with prescribing doctor.
