TangoCharlie posted a lovely inspirational post about a way of picking herself up when she's feeling down or sorry for herself and I've also found it a really useful 'tool' myself in recent days.
She explained that there's always things we can do, and ways of tweaking or resolving the problems we encounter. So.....identify the problem & write it down, and then seek a solution and write it down. So simple yet so effective.
It's not always easy to remain positive and happy but sharing ideas like tangocharlie's definitely helps 'lift us up' too. When you overcome a problem.... even the smallest of 'niggles', it's an achievement.
As some of you already know, I'm currently on holiday in Devon and this morning I awoke to this!
Very hard to not feel uplifted when you see this! I wish you could all have been here to witness it with me but obviously that's not possible so I'm sharing my 'joy'instead.

That is so beautiful. Thank you for your great advice and comfort. I have been mesmerised by the pictures from NASA of the expansive universe. My problems don’t amount to a hill of beans by comparison. 🌟
And if you can't solve a problem, change the way you look at it. One of my solutions on the list was 'Let it go!'.
I also thought about something you said in that thread, that you were frustrated because you couldn't do as much as last year. We all have a tendency to be hard on ourselves, we wouldn't say such harsh things to the people we love, but say it to ourselves, when what we really need is kindness t self. My next 'To do list' is going to be How can I help my body repair itself? .
Your lovely post this morning also reminds me of the mindfulness principle of seeking out the pleasant experiences and appreciating the moment. What a view, what a lovely holiday, sounds like it's done you good in so many ways.
It's definitely proving very therapeutic.... and was it synchronicity that made your first paragraph so apt!...becausethis morning I almost had a wobbly moment!
We went for a beautiful walk around Slapton Ley which took us through & under tree canopies and along the shoreline with bird hides and viewing points en route.
About half an hour into the walk the path veered very steeply uphill and it was obvious this continued for some way. I knew I wouldn't be able to complete what I'd thought would be an easy circular walk and felt tears welling up.
Your initial post immediately came to mind and I thought..."Ok! I can't continue this way but I can go back the way I came and enjoy all the lovely wildlife and views again and I'll also have completed an hours walking!" Happiness restored.
I couldn't change the fact that I couldn't get up the hill and it definitely upset me, but I did indeed let it go and focused on what I could do instead.
It's so weird that in some situations I can absolutely do that automatically and yet in others, a 'prompt' is required!😄
A brilliant example of changing your mindset. Yes we may know the theory need these prompts, I'm working out the best way to keep all this mindfulness stuff close ot mind. As the last mindfulness course was on Tuesday afternoons I'm going to spend at least 1-2 hours every Tuesday afternoon reviewing my notes and maybe even occasionally writing posts on it.
BTW my 'let it go' was much easier, I was feeling annoyed about something someone said so I just laughed and said 'let it go T'. Reminds me of a great little book I have somewhere, Don't sweat the small stuff (and it's all small stuff)
Haha! Wouldn't it be the most incredible and extraordinary book if we all were to publish all of our anecdotes, strategies, lessons learnt and useful experiences! It would be a behemoth of a book!
It was mentioned on the evening news here that the best time to see it was 8.40-ish pm - no idea what direction it would have been then but I got up at about 2am and went onto the balcony to look at it as it was opposite. There was some fine cloud across it and golden rather than orange - absolutely beautiful! And almost as light as day.
