Methotrexate in the US

Since our Supreme Court has removed Roe v Wade allowing abortion something has happened that most did not expect. Women of reproctive age are being denied their methotrexate that they've been taking for years as a treatment for things like RA because it is also a drug used in abortions. I know that most of us are too old for this to effect us but all I can say is wow! I'm glad I don't have a uterus any more.

Methotrexate can CAUSE Birth Defects hence you have to use Birth Control if you are of child bearing age.

Until today l was unaware it can be used in Ectopic Pregnancies as it’s a Folic Acid Antagonist…..

Methotrexate and Pregnancy

Methotrexate is not recommended in pregnancy.

If you are taking methotrexate and planning a pregnancy in the future, speak to your doctor. They will discuss whether you need to switch to a different medicine before stopping your contraception. Methotrexate can stay in your body for some time, so you need to stop taking methotrexate at least 6 months before trying for a baby.

If you become pregnant while taking methotrexate, do not stop taking your medicine and speak to your doctor as soon as possible. They’ll review your treatment and help you decide what to do next. Your doctor will only prescribe methotrexate for you while you're pregnant if the benefits of the medicine outweigh the chances of it being harmful.

Article linked from piglette says some RA patients MAY have issues getting MTX - it doesn’t say they definitely WILL have problems.

Not the same thing.
