I have horrendous toothache and a cant been seen until tomorrow, dentist said to take ibuprofen, I know we shouldn’t while on pred but I can’t see it listed in the medication instructions leaflet. Will it be ok to take for 24 hours?

Yes, just make sure you take it with food..even if it’s just yogurt. It’s not recommended to use regularly alongside Pred, but occasionally is okay unless you have stomach issues.

Thank you for your quick response, I’m off to buy some now, it will be 24 hours max until my appointment. Hope they help as paracetamol isn’t.

I do - and rheumy approves of up to a couple of weeks providing I use a PPI as well. Take it with food.

Thank you. I’ve taken it with yogurt and I also take omeprazole. 🤞 it helps.

This might help you, I do this if I have toothache.I get some sage leaves(dried if no fresh) soak in boiling water, wait till the water has cooled then rinse my mouth out a couple of times with the solution, it’s something I was told to do by my dentist.

I have fresh sage in the garden, I’ll give it a try. Heard of using cloves but not sage. Thank you

Have you tried Orajel - I found it really helped, dabbed on the offending tooth It comes in an extra strength version too.

I do hope you get some relief soon.

I have corsodyl gel that helped a little but the nurofen really helped. I have an appointment at 12.20 today with the dentist. I don’t usually look forward to going to the dentist but I can’t wait today! Thank you.

Thank you for all the replies, I’ve seen dentist, it’s an infection so antibiotics, he can’t see any decay but said sometimes cracks get in the enamel and that can cause pain. May end up with an extraction but I’m hoping it’s just an infection. 🌸

Have you tried toothpaste for sensitive teeth? Once upon a time a dentist said my sore teeth might be fine cracks in the enamel and sometimes the right toothpaste would work like polyfilla ... I've used the Pronamel (or whatever it is called) for years and it seems to do the trick.
