PMR and Vasculitis

Diagnosed with PMR 4 years ago (at 60) , I have been off prednisolone for about a year now but had to go onto Methotrexate for a diagnosis of Vasculitis a year ago. Waitiing for an appoitment with Rheumatology to see what is happening with the Vasculitis.

I took the approach all along of keeping going now matter the aches and pains. I still get pain in my back and shoulders but not enough to turn to painkillers. To be able to run I had to lay of my back and bring my knees up because I could not bend down to do my shoe laces up.

My running seems to have got back to speeds that I was able to achieve before PMR.

So if you have PMR stay positive there is light at the end of the tunnel for some of us.

Wow! Running ... Hard to believe.

I do appreciate these success stories, even though I don't see myself running anytime soon. Thanks for sharing.

It is surprising what you can do on Prednisolone to kill the pain. After being diagnosed in June 2018, I ran 486km in competitions in the rest of 2018 and in 2019 I ran 943km in competitions (equivalent of 22.5 marathons but in much smaller chunks).

Great to hear you are doing so well. Must be wonderful to get back to speeds you were achieving pre PMR diagnosis.
