Bloodshot eye from a scratch now seems to be more bloodshot.

Hello all,

A week ago I scratched the lower part of the white of my eye. The blood seemed to be diminishing, but several days ago when waking up the eye was painful, like very bad dry eye. Cool eye drops helped, but it is still sore and veins around the eye are more red. My vision doesn’t seem any worse, (I’m very nearsighted with a cataract in the other eye), but the eye seems very dry and I have to blink more than usual.

Oh what bad luck. If I were you I'd be getting that eye checked asap in case you are hatching an infection.

Are you in the UK? SPECSAVERS and other opticians have eye specialists working with gps and nhs. (My GP sent me there) They will see you quickly (when you ring tell them you have PMR )and if necessary will refer you to the hospital eye clinic. They are very good. Happened to me twice and mine turned out to be Scleritis so I needed steroid drops for a week. It’s a great service.

Thanks Abbey. No I’m in the US, wish we did have a system like that.

I would echo what HeronNS says. Better safe than sorry. Hope it resolves soon
