I have had PMR for nearly 4 yrs, now down to 5mg pred'. I have now been told after blood tests, I have raised calcium and platelets, could this be connected to PMR and its relevant medicines. Have been told to take Lansoprol and Alendrolic Acid again, both of which I stopped taking, apologies for spelling mistakes, no time to check, off to work, many thanks . x

I don't suppose they also did a parathyroid hormone level did they? Primary hyperarathyroidism is the most common cause of high calcium so don't let them get away with that and just treat the symptom (AA will lower the calcium). But if it is hyperparathyroidism, they need to identify WHY.

Why take lansoprazole again? Why did you stop it?

Raised platelet count is, I believe, one of many inflammation markers. Did you have any others?

I have both - I’ve been on pred for 10 years and I’m now on 4mg of pred. I never took any medicines for either. The doctor mentions it after all blood tests but doesn’t seem to worry about it.
