K2 dosage

Hi Everyone. Sorry to be asking yet another question but my rheumy is dismissive of K2, but I know there will be answers on here. What dosage is advisable please? Is solgar the best, or are there others? Thanks again, and hope everyone is coping and feeling well today...

I use k2 mk -7 from Natto extract 200 ug from Health Unlocked

I think HeronNS established that the RDA must be about 190mcg - which fits with the dose Koalajane mentions.I don't think anywhere really gives an authoritative figure.

I take the same as Koalajane. GPS don’t show interest plus it’s not available on the NHS. I buy mine online.

Thanks...yes I will too.

Why are the NHS so dismissive of K2? There's plenty of good scientific evidence for it.

Thanks all. Possibly doctors don't read the research ....but we have to find out ourselves...

Is there a link to the evidence? As someone who has undergone a PCI procedure to offset substantive stenosis in one of my heart arteries, as soon as I see Vit K being mentioned I say that’s not for me - albeit K2 is different, I’m led to understand. If on the other hand there was clear scientific analysis that it is ok following PCI, then I may change my mind.

PS If K2 is different to K, why not call it something else! It’s too confusing and potentially dangerous if someone picked up a tub of K in error and started taking the wrong supplement.

I seem to remember there's some info in the FAQs.

Same reason as the B vitamins probably - it has a different number to differentiate it from K1

It is a supplement and hasn't been subjected to rigorous clinical trials. Not all publications are good science though.

Thanks PMRPro,Since my stent I’m conscious what I chuck down my throat, including vitamins.

Once upon a time I was in the GPs office for something or other - probably prostate related - and asked about the efficacy of sau palmetto. He said I don’t know anything about alternative medicine.

That's had a mention on the forum! It's funny - all over mainland Europe there is quite wide use of alternative therapies where appropriate. Not replacing mainstream medicine but used alongside it as it can relieve adverse effects. Only the UK sneers ...

I used to keep Holland &Barrett in business single handily - until the stent came along. That sort of event does make you question and seek further opinion. I read the links you provided and I will ask my GP about K2. On the face of it, it does seem beneficial for both the heart and bones.

Hello, I take Vit D3 4,000iu, - 100ug and for good absorption I take Magnesium Citrate 1480mg providing 444mg elemental magnesium and high strength menaquinone MK-7 200ug. No good taking high strength D3, made with olive oil without the other two. Buy good quality too.

I bought 'One Year Supply of High Strength Vitamin K2 Menaquinone MK7 200 mcg Produced in the UK for £11.35'. Works out at 3p per day.

At the risk of getting into trouble for advertising, I got it from the Big A, headline is Vitamin K2 MK 7 200mcg | 365 Vegetarian and Vegan Tablets (not Capsules) | One Year Supply of High Strength Vitamin K2 Menaquinone MK7 Produced in the UK by EVO NUTRITION.

in reply toSharitone

You purchased the same as myself. Also research is showing that taking Krill is better than Omega 3....so purchased those too and Vivanta liquid tablets Curcumin. Anything to help with the pain from arthritis.

I asked my rheumy about K2 and he said he wasn't convinced by the evidence for supplements. Thought it was better to get from diet.
