I really don’t like the sound of this symptom. A significant percentage of PMR sufferers go on to develop GCA (I’m one of them) and the hospital should have ensured that this was seriously considered. I think you should return to the Emergency Department of the hospital and point this out to them. The usual symptoms of Temporal Arteritis/GCA are an unusual headache, pain in the jaw when chewing - getting worse, any eyesight problems at all, a sore tongue possibly. Not everyone has typical symptoms, I didn’t but my Rheumatologist is really on the ball. I am sorry that you are having such a stressful time and living alone must make it worse. Do you have someone to go with you to hospital? It is important that you are not dismissed as having a panic attack. You should be fine, your tapering is good with tiny drops, as long as you leave at least 2 week gaps between. Can you ask your doctor whether an increased dose is advisable ? Move fast. I will be thinking of you. Xx
I agree with SJ, and hope you have seen a doctor by now. Doesn't sound like a typical panic attack!
