On those rare occasions that I carefully watch both the quality and quantity of food I eat I have without a doubt empirically experienced what this article confirms. Anyone else find this to be true ?

Interesting article confirming what I have experienced with PMR
Obviously based on something akin to the Newcastle diet. Much of that is covered by shakes plus soups and salads - I wonder what things are NOT in the shakes.
😀 I always understood that shakes aka smoothies does the chewing for you and fibre is broken down causing blood sugar spikes: not good for diabetics.
They are - but the 800 kcal diet shakes are specially made for the short term diet to lose weight and reverse Type 2 diabetes. And it works.
I agree that it reminds me of the Newcastle diet. (BTW, I'm surprised that more people with diabetes are not aware of the Newcastle diet and the remarkable results from it.) But I am left with a question: The posted article did not mention how hard it was for participants to remain on the diet; did they have to put them on a locked ward with video surveillance to make sure they didn't cheat? 800 is a very low number of calories . . . how intense is the hunger experienced by those on the diet?
Even UK GPs were at the back of the line recognising it!!!Don't know to be honest - but it is only for 12 weeks and I imagine most trials are also supported by some form of remuneration. Well chosen, 800 calories is quite a bit and most of the problem is lack of bulk which is why it usually includes a proportion of leaft salads - low calorie bulk. And motivation is key - a lot of people are so shocked by a diabetes diagnosis it puts a whole new view on things.
Doesn't the weight just pile back on again when you stop this diet?
