Botox injection
I don't want to add to your worries and I don't have any experience of either the items you mention. This is the first time I have ever come across someone being offered Botox and I have been around for 15 years now.
I also looked up acetazolamide which I had never heard of and it is not mentioned anywhere I can find as a treatment for GCA. If you put in "What illness is acetazolamide used for you can read up on it."
If I have read it correctly, your wife was diagnosed with GCA 6 months ago and is not under a Rheumatologist. However I did have GCA for 5 years before it went into remission.
To be started on 60 mg and down to 10mg withing six months is astounding to me therefore
I am not surprised that your wife is still suffering from the symptoms.
My instinct is to tell you that to call your GP and asking the questions and ask for an immediate referral to referral to a Consultant Rheumatologist who specializes in PMR and GCA.
In the meantime if your wife experiences any trouble with her vision, however small, blurring, flickering etc you take her to A&E immediately to protect her vision, GCA is classed as a medical emergency, just like a stroke, heart etc.
