VERY unusual!! I slept all night - no pain, no loo visits. Now 10am and am still pain free.

Pick up pill box to realise I hadn't taken my pred OR pain killers last night. ?????

Was this an "almost" New Year's gift?

Has this happened to anyone else?

Sure you are still alive? Jens, OH's German colleague, reckoned that after 40 if you got up in the morning without pain you must be dead!!!!! ;)

Ooooer! Never thought of that!!!!

Magic! What’s the recipe?

Luck! Niggles started about 1pm so took 1mg pred and a cocodamol - as a precaution. Still feel OK though! I suppose docs/rheumies would say "all in the head you know"! If so - very willing to agree and be pain free for the rest of my life.😂👵🏻

I don't care where it is - as long as I feel OK!

Snap Constance! Same thing happened to me - what was in the air last night? Wish I could bottle it....!

Great, wasn't it? Back to normal today😕 but bearable.

Here's to many (well, at least 'some') such days in the future.🍹⚡️

Gosh, I bet you feel wonderful today! The last time I had a good night's sleep was 8 years ago on Christmas Day night - probably due to all the sweet things I ate during the day which I can't do now! Enjoy your day......

Is this Constance of old , who I 'knew' way back when we were on the Patient site ? I have just had the absolute opposite experience to your unusual one . It is too late for me to concentrate now , but will read your site thru in the morn.

Still the old one - VERY OLD!🤪

This is extremely good news. Have you had any blood tests recently, maybe your inflammation levels are very low or have disappeared. I hope so, anyway glad to hear that you feel better. Happy New Year. 👍

Wonderful for you Constance! I hope you continue to be relatively pain free on lower dosage. You New Year present? I had similar experience a week ago when I forgot my post breakfast 2mg ( only had 5mg overnight) and didn’t feel any pain for rest of day. Next day I just took 1mg after breakfast and have been alternating 1mg on 2 days(6mg total) then 2 mg on 2 days (7mg total) Do get stiff hips especially after sitting down for some time. What are signs of Adrenalin returning and will it happen on 6/7 mg a day?

I am certainly sleeping better on lower dose and my husband said my “ moon face” was going. I live in hope🙏🤞

Not so much signs of its return - rather lack of symptoms that it hasn't. Poor adrenal function predominantly causes fatigue but there are other symptoms and sometimes you can have poor adrenal function that doesn't cause any problems because even as little at 2mg pred canbe enough for day to day function. Problems may manifest if you are under stress - ill, in an accident, emotional or physical stressors.

I had the same thoughts as Pro! You okay now? I’m always nearly a day behind getting notifications. 🌺

Constance13 profile image

Same as usual now!😕 Well not sooo bad. I'm sure the PMR is 'relaxing' quite a bit - most of the pain is arthritis I'm sure.

I would like to reduce (to see what happens) but I'm 'terrified'😂🤪 of PROs reaction!!

You know what will happen - all of a sudden. And then there is the adrenal side of things to consider!

Stay as you are for a little while. You’ll know when it’s right to reduce. 🌺

I had a similar night! Slept for 9 hours.. !!! Unheard of.. don’t remember when was the last time! No cocodomol! That was the night of the 27th., haven’t checked what the planetary positions were!!! Weird!!

Last night not too bad either. Doesn’t mean I’m not dizzy and exhausted in the day though. And ears still muffled! Had a horrid time just before that wonderful night.. my hearing got much worse suddenly.. couldn’t even hear properly with hearing aids in! Was very upset. Not so bad in the morning after that 9 hours sleep.

Fndctge hearing problem very debilitating! Went woffle on!!

Thought you couldn't resist answering that!😂

Those rare nights of no bathroom 🚽 trips are magic! When I wake up, I think “ what just happened? “. 😁. Received a present. 🤗

How in the world did you manage all night with no loo visits? With me it's frequently two. I need to know the secret!

Constance13 profile image
Constance13 in reply to prunus

A late Christmas present. Atmospheric disturbances I should think.🤪

As I am an old lady with two autoimmune illnesses twice a night is the 'norm'.

It happened once so I am looking forward to a repeat.😂😂

prunus profile image

Thought about you when I begrugingly got up my usual twice. I always resent getting out of a nice warm bed but have no alternative or one that cannot be contemplated. What have the night temperatures been like with you in Germany? We have been lucky here - West London - they were in double figures last night.

Constance13 profile image
Constance13 in reply to prunus

I'm back to normal now prunus!😏 Twice a night too. However, I can usually get to sleep pretty easily after the loo visits. The getting up doesn't trouble me too much as it makes me move and therefore helps the pain of arthritis.

Temperatures were very low in the night until two or three nights ago (-4 to -6). We're having the sort of weather that is terrible for arthritis - cold, grey, windy and wet!!

All the best in the coming year. Be happy!💐💥⚡️💫🌟

And all the best to you too in the coming year. My OH now has to have a carer and has not been out since June other than to hospital. My mother used to say getting old was not much fun and now we know!

Constance13 profile image

Sorry to hear your husband now has carer (although I should say "is lucky to have a carer - as are you)". How often does he/she come?My husband is my carer - I'd be in a home if it wasn't for him. He's marvellous!👨🏻‍🦳💥 I have home help for shopping or housework once a week and a carer to do the things my husband isn't capable of (he's 86) once a week.

No, ageing is not joyful, but it's better than the opposite.😀💫
