Unusual bruise on eyelid

Hi allI'm currently on a maintenance dose of 5ng of pred and doing ok no flares and no pain and stiffness. I woke up this morning to find I have a large bruise on my eyelid and my eye is a bit foggy no pain and no headache. I'm just curious to know if anyone here ever experienced anything similar. I will ring doctor and make appointment to have it checked.

On the eyelid, no, In the white of the eye itself, yes. Did you manage to poke your eye while asleep! Or do you have a partner to lash out next to you?

Thanks for your reply. I'm just back from the doctor he has sent a referral letter to A&E wants me to go there and have it checked out or see if I can get an optician to see me as he wants them to examine the back of the eye in case I have had a bleed to there. I will ring around and see if I can find one if not I will go to A&E.

They can examine your eye - the ED isn't as good as there is less equipment in most than at the MECS/UES opticians.

I am in Ireland so my choices are limited. Specsavers is probably the best place for me to try if I can get someone to see me there

I knew that - so why did I give a UK link. Sorry ... Blame it on the heat - a mere 32C as yet - so much for being cooler! But the S-word has been mentioned for Monday!

Bit late to post, but think it’s probably a side effect of Pred - bleeding and bruising very common - rather than anything more sinister. .. and it takes very little contact for that to happen. But always sensible to get anything to do with eyes checked out….for your own piece of mind…

Yes agree with that, I got a next day appointment and I had extensive tests… total of 2hrs. He referred me to my GP, when I saw the GP he referred me immediately to ophthalmology and was seen within an hour. Diagnosis: suspected vitreomacular traction,

When at that thin skin, easily bruised stage it is surprising how things when you are asleep can give you bruises. I strongly suspect the corner of a pillow bruises my eyelid. I have had a lot of nosebleeds lately which I can't claim on the bed but often wake up with a bloodshot eye during those spells.
