Third Covid vaccine or Booster?

I was told by the NHS by letter that I was eligible for a third Covid vaccine. I had it on 17th October (Pfizer) and was was told by the nurse who administered it that it would be recorded on my records as a third vaccine. When it eventually showed up on my NHS Covid passport it was recorded as a booster. Has this happened to anyone else? I’ve recently read that the 4th vaccine (ie my booster) will be due 91 days after the third vaccine. In my case this will be around the 10th January. Should I just wait and see if I get an invitation from my GP surgery or be more pro active and check now?

Hi, I’m in almost exactly the same position. Had my third jab on 22 nd September, and my 91 days is due tomorrow. Not quite sure whether to be proactive about it, or to wait to see if I am called in for the booster.

Cheers

As yours is almost due I would give the surgery a call.

That’s exactly what I did. Very helpful receptionist who said she’d book me in. Found she couldn’t, and suggested I ring 119. Did that, but they said they couldn’t book me in because my third jab in September was described as a booster, and it was not compatible with the computer system to get two boosters. Suggested I go to a walk in centre.Googled to find the closest walk in centre. Found one in Leamington that was open till six pm. Drove down there to find it was closed!!! And had been for three months.

Called in at GPs on way home, and the closest they could find was in Coventry - half an hour away. So, my conclusion is that they don’t really want to give me a fourth jab as a booster even though I am immune suppressed and have been diagnosed with Stage two multiple myeloma.

What an absolute shambles.

Sorry to hear of the trouble you’re having getting your 4th jab. I’m sure as more of us get to the point where we need it the NHS will get their act together. It’s such a roller coaster for us at a time when we don’t need the added stress!

Thank you for your kind thoughts. I had a look on the NHS APP, and it’s all there. As you say, they are clearly not geared up for those of us who are now becoming due for the fourth (booster) jab.We are told we have to wait for the NHS or GP to contact us. It doesn’t fill me with confidence!

I’d definitely say to check now. The only reason I might not, is the fact that the NHS is currently dealing with so much, and so many staff are off sick 😣 Won’t be much better in the new year, though, so maybe follow up now? x

Thanks. I don’t really want to bother them at this time but if I flag it up with them now they may be able to advise me on what to do. As you say things may be worse in the new year.

I just checked My Vaccine Passport & it says 3of3 but l’m assuming because l had a letter from the NHS telling me l needed a 3rd Dose they’ll let me know?……It’s due mid January - so l’ll get over this Chest Infection or whatever it is first!

But do let us know how you get on…..

Also just checked my bit of card (Vaccine Passport??) to see how my booster jab was described. No need to worry, it's not marked down at all!! So I've written it in myself. You've got to laugh really.

I’ve decided to wait and see what happens. I’m trying to taper my Pred at the moment and having withdrawal symptoms. We have also had to cancel our much awaited flight to the US to spend Christmas with our grandchildren. My son’s local hospital in PA is overflowing with Covid patients. Too much stress at the moment which I don’t want to add to.

Oh that’s a shame - l’m sure you were so looking forward to see the family too 😢Everything just seems in a sort of Limbo….

Good luck with your Taper 🍀

Best Wishes

Thank you. I’m fine. We just have to move forward don’t we and hope things will get better. It didn’t help that we cancelled our trip to the US on my birthday so I felt entitled to a bit of self pity😊 x

Mine didn’t have my name on it - I was tempted to put it on eBay to the highest bidder!😀

The Bit of Card is NOT your vaccine passport. That has to be downloaded or ‘phoned up for. There are different versions for home or for travel.

My advice is to be proactive. Here's my experience of getting my No 4.

My "3rd Primary Dose" was on 26th September, so my 4th jab (actually my first booster!) becomes due on 26th December. I emailed my surgery to ask them to "get on with it", (politely!) thinking it would be the surgery that would contact me to tell me what to do, and, as I had to go there to get my pills and potions, I called in and had a conversation with the practice manager. She said that there is to be a "walk in" clinic in Kidderminster on 27th December (blimey)and that I should just turn up. Thinking this seemed a bit vague I drove over to the clinic (actually a huge GP practice in town) and asked the receptionist to confirm that this is what I should do.......she hadn't a clue as there was nothing in her dairy about it! So I went back to my practice and had another word with the practice manager. She showed me the relevant blurb on her computer. So the Clinic does exist and the reason the huge GP surgery doesn't have it on their screen is that it's not being organized by them but by a consortium of local practices of which mine is a member. Hope that makes sense! Anyway she booked me in this time!!! She even told me it would be a Moderna jab and that they would know it wold be my 4th jab. Don't ask me to explain the logic of all this, but it proves that "if you don't ask you may not get but if you do you might"! Seems unreal that I'm getting No 4 the day after its due but I ain't complaining. Is that a world record I ask?

Best wishes to you all.

My third vaccine is recorded as a booster. An enquiry to my GP surgery got the reply that they are not responsible for the vaccine recording, and suggest that I try 119. As my first 3 were administered by an outfit called Procare, I may gird my loins and try contacting them first. I know the vaccinator made a note on my record for the third jab, as being a primary rather than booster, as the system didn’t give that as an option. Ho hum!

Hi When I had mine thier was no where on thier computer to enable them to enter 3rd jab so that had to enter it as booster .Says same on my card .

Thay also knew nothing about me having a forth jab so I will be chasing this in the New Year

After I saw, yes saw, my rheumatologist for my December appointment, she wrote a letter confirming my 3rd vaccination, which I had in October, should be a third primary, (GP practice wasn't co-operative with this) and thus I should be in line for the 4th as a booster. Yesterday I took the letter to my local Covid vaccination centre and asked for my record to be updated. I commiserated with the medic when he told me their computer system hadn't been fully updated. He showed me how the only option for the 3rd vaccine was to record it as a booster. However there is a note section where they write that the 3rd is a primary one and a booster still required. They then have to make their own list to invite us immunocompromised for our 4th vaccination/booster. I'll be keeping an eye on the date to check on this.
