What a difference a tablet can make!

Just a quick update almost two weeks ago I took my first prednisolone tablet in a year. This was my third period of zero prednisolone in over 5 years. the transformation of 5 mg has been amazing! Within hours of the first tablet my ongoing shoulder pains fell away as did the pain and heaviness in my legs. Finally the liquid swelling in one knee which was recently x-rayed and revealed some osteoarthritis has normalised back to a firm knee with no sign of the bloated swelling. To cap it all and just as important, my mood has improved and I keep telling my wife Maria and anyone else who will listen how much better I feel!

Just amazed at what a tiny 5mg tablet can do.

Sometimes you need to feel rubbish to realise that!!

You sound like a candidate for Prof Dasgupta's approach with keeping patients at 2-3mg. I think that for some people 1mg might be enough so worth a try.

But how do you convince your GP? I’m currently on 5.5mg and twitchy with apprehension as I try to discover the effects of lower doses as I proceed, not knowing whether the next step is a step too far. But the DSNS approach will hopefully allow me to test the waters slowly. Nothing more to be done, unless I’m considered a candidate for the Dasgupta approach. I’m coming to the end of year 2 after initial PRM diagnosis.

I know it is amazing, it works, unlike every other drug I have ever taken. If you can stick at 5 mgs, that’s not too bad, for adverse effects. So glad you’ve got yourself back.

I could ask, why has it taken you 5 years to discover that?🤦‍♀️, but as it's the season of goodwill to all men I won't 😀🤣

Probably because hope springs eternal in the human breast, male and female, that THIS time zero pred is permanent.

Great to hear! I've been on 7.5mg for just over a year and feel good. I'm hoping to do the slow slow taper after Christmas to get to 5mg. If I have to remain on 5mg indefinitely so be it. At 78 it's likely that I have other 'old age' problems lurking. If 5mg helps to manage them and PMR and give me a decent quality of life until I pop my clogs, I won't complain. The side effects are negligible although I would like to cut down on the bathroom visits during the night!! Good luck

I almost reached 3 mgs last year after almost 6 years of pred and then PAD and hip problems surfaced at age 83. I am happy to remain at 4 going on 3 1/2 hopefully.
