Just started prednisone
Good old prednisone, a real wonder drug.
Hello and welcome to the site. Good luck with your biopsy. I hope you feel much better soon. Do you have specific questions to ask ?
Hi My. doctor also gave me Milan-Pantoprazole do I need to take it every day and is it ok to take with prednisone at the same time?
Did you get instructions from the pharmacy? Is it a PPI? Do you need stomach protection? Long term use of a PPI can cause bone thinning, so not an ideal combination with pred.
No I have been good no acid reflux so if I do not take it will prednisone hurt my stomach ?The med is Mylan-Pantoprazole first time but not sure if if I want to take it very often if it causes bone thinning.
Many of us manage perfectly well taking pred with our breakfast, or even with a snack like yoghurt or a banana. Others do seem to need a medication, but may have had problems before with acid reflux, etc. Or only need something early days when their dose is highest. Do what is best for you.
I managed to protect my stomach from Prednisalone by taking it with Greek yoghurt, for years. I didn’t like the potential side effects of PPI’s , especially bone thinning and pain - read the leaflet. Having said that, after 6 years of Pred I have developed digestive sensitivity and have to take over the counter indigestion remedies most weeks. I also do better with small meals and have practically given up meat and all baked goods, like bread and pastry. I still don’t regret stopping Omeprazol, another PPI.
Morning Shortfoot and welcome to the forum, a look through the FAQ's, probably on the right of your screen will give you plenty of information to read and feel free to ask questions. Just one quick more thought, although you feel really good at the moment, your Pred dose is only controlling the inflammation not curing it, so please don't feel you can be suddenly energetic and and do all those things you may have struggled to do before, you still need plenty of rest.
Welcome to the forum, Shortfoot.Whenever any newcomer talks about their relief from pain after starting on Pred it takes me back to that feeling bordering on euphoria when I was able to get out of bed on my own.
Please take heed of Bcol's advice and be very gentle with yourself.
Best wishes for Monday.
When it works it really works! Now that inflammation is under control, whatever it is, you can get down to the serious business of planning TLC so your body can recover. The illness is still there but Pred has got your back, even though it can make you feel quite peculiar. Take….it….easy.
Hi, and welcome…
Have a look at this post for starters, and as suggested have a browse through FAQs, but obviously any specific question just ask -
