Hello, I have been able to reduce my predisone to 5 1/2 MG a day. I take 1 1/2 mg am and 4mg at night. Recently I have had pain and numbness in my right wrist and hand. I explained the symptoms to my GP and they believe I have carpel tunnel. Well, now the other wrist is hurting. I cannot make a fist in either hand, I have an appointment with a wrist specialist this week, hoping to get a shot to alleviate the pain. My questions is, since the other wrist is not as bad but still painful and numb at times....maybe I do not have carpel tunnel?
This morning my shoulders, arms and across the front of my chest are sore. I upped my predisone this morning to 3 mg to see if it will help. So disappointing since I was at 5 1/2 mg a day. I should also mention that I do take 10 mg once a week of Methotrexate.

Hi Plains, have a feeling we talked about this a few weeks ago. I don't think CTS has to be bilateral. Increasing my Pred has definitely helped and I just read an interesting article from the states. Link below. Getting a Corcosticoid injection is certainly one of the recommended treatments.
I, too, had a feeling we discussed this, so it must have been a similar question from somebody else. If you search on carpal tunnel, you should find the responses to that question, I think a lot of us replied. But I guess the wrist specialist you are about to see will hopefully be the expert!! Good luck
Hi Plains, this is a strange one ! I had an app with a member of the musclaurskeletall team a few weeks ago, please excuse the spelling !! She was the first to pick up on it, my fingers and wrists are sore. My neck is very painful most of the time. Due to a spinal problem , she thinks my PMR and spinal problem is pinching the nerves in my neck causing Carpel tunnel, my fingers are starting to separate , its very painful sometimes ! Hope this helps.
Hi Viv, when my CTS started, my GP referred me to a Neurologist for an EMG conduction test to verify it was CTS. At the appointment, I asked her if the source could be from my Cervical Spondylosis (c4-c7), so she tested that as well. She said the CTS was severe and required relief surgery, and it wasn't associated with Cervical Spondylosis.
PMR symptoms were just beginning to start at this point. CTS started about 10 weeks earlier.
Maybe this is something you can get tested for (EMG).
Thanks for your reply, I have had this test ,but I had it in my legs as I had the start of pins and needles, all some how related to my PMR , but no one new this at the time ! Will be having different tests, X rays etc in the next few weeks , will see what happens then .
