PREDNISOLONE - THE WHATS, THE WHYS & ???????

Hi Folks,

I just this morning came across this hidden away in a folder on my desktop. I haven't a clue where I got it, but it might help someone(s) better understand not alone our DRUG OF CHOICE but maybe those that prescribe for us it as well. The leaflet has individual tabs for both the Patient medicines.org.uk/emc/produc... and where you view pdf file, and the Health Professional medicines.org.uk/emc/produc... !

ENJOY!

Was it the data pack from a box of steroids?

Not as far as I know. I had an URL link in a Word document and as that didn't work, I went siteseeing and eventually got to this site medicines.org.uk/emc/browse... and where my search for prednisolone was rewarded with all these goodies! And then a little later I visited I got to medicines.org.uk/emc/produc... and which led me to the two links in my original message. Note: I did not include all of the above on the basis that less is more and which is often lost in waffle & verbiage!

Great to here from you all the ways overseas! As I see we are nearly of the same vintage my modesty doesn't allow me to even suggest that great minds might after all think alike, and sure if they don't, who cares eh?

(For similar info on other med see medicines.org.uk/emc/browse....

Finally, all the info I've posted is published by Datapharm (datapharm.com/) and who modestly (again) declare "Datapharm runs emc (electronic medicines compendium), the UK’s leading provider of trusted medical information, and provides regulatory and compliance software solutions to the pharmaceutical industry". Howzat??

Thank you. I think. I feel more like running for the hills. Remind me again why I take pred?

Glad to be of help! LOL. Oh btw don't they say SHARING IS CARING and KNOWLEDGE IS POWER and sure now you needn't ever worry again about such trivial matters as prescription medication! If only the rest of life was that easy?

medicines.org.uk is my go-to website for info on any new medication I am given.

May I suggest that you might also recheck any present medications so as to ensure they're just doing everything "it says on tin", BUT NO MORE! eg I recently got diagnosed with Chronic Kidney Disease after being prescribed NSAIDS such as Naproxen & Ibobrufen for a variety of ailments over 30 years and which it turns out are highly toxic to the kidneys!

Just in case you are not aware, I just received this link

pdr.net/

for USA meds as someone was complaining on another Forum that my original links did not cover all USA meds. Then another on the same Forum was complaining about some suppliers into the UK not being included when yet there was a page covering 33 examples by 8 different suppliers! Bless!

And just when I thought there could be no more, along comes the following information for consideration.

......."You can find the documentation for most USA medicines - and it is managed by the FDA themselves: dailymed.nlm.nih.gov/dailymed/

And they only offer alerts notification if you register. Whereas the FDA offers free alerts:

For the USA you can sign up to FDA alerts here:

public.govdelivery.com/acco..."

At this rate of disclosure maybe Health Unlocked should put some resources into the subject and which will then cut out a lot of the second guessing that's going on and perhaps reduce the number of posts being made, to all the individaul Forums!
