Different reaction while tapering this time

Hi All,

I've been slowly tapering and have reached 5mg. As happened the last time I reached this level, my neck started to become stiff and I have a bit of discomfort in my hips. The difference this time is that it's painful for a few days and then I have a day or two where I feel great with total range of motion and I feel like I want to proceed with the tapering plan....Then I start to feel the pain again and decide to stay as is. Any thoughts/advice?

Sometimes, even when it is a drop of 0.5mg, withdrawal symptoms kick-in. Think addicts - the body gets used to something and does not want to give it up so protests and then can settle down.

When you say 'slowly tapering' are you using one of the tapering plans on here eg DSNS or DL's plan and I have another Tortoise and Hare? . These usually help as you are going slowly and taking around 28 days to get down to the next level and the body does not notice it too much. Then wait a week and start all over again. Slowly, slowly catchee monkey and the tortoise won the race.

I have been using the DSNS method. Just not sure about how to proceed this time.

Ah, as PMRpro has said - wait a bit longer ......................

I'd wait a bit longer - it sounds as if you are just on the cusp and getting there! It will work eventually :)

I was on 5mg for 2 and a half months after a flare. Presently tapering from 3 to 2.5. Best of luck with your tapering. 🌻
